Images of Singapore

Mini Frederic Fox takes you to a walk on a Sunday evening to show you some images of Singapore.

This is the old supreme court building of Singapore, now on the way being refurbished into a cultural arts center.

Mini Frederic at the Padang with image of Swissôtel The Stamford behind.

Looks like a soccer match is on at the Padang (field).

There are so many open fields in Singapore but only this green patch is called the Padang.

Frederic is now at a war memorial cenotaph at Singapore's Esplanade park.

The cenotaph was built in memory of the soldiers who died in World War I

The cenotaph war memorial was later dedicated to the Singapore residents who perished in the World War II.

Frederic Fox heard some music coming from the Esplanade outdoor stage ♪♫♪♫

Frederic grabs a seat and enjoys the performance. See you next time round on the Images of Singapore.

Singapore Philatelic Museum

Jolly Wolf is going to visit the Singapore Philatelic Museum today. What is the Singapore Philatelic Museum you might wonder?

Singapore Philatelic Museum is a museum of stamps and philatelic material collections of Singapore from the 1830s to present day. It is the postal history of Singapore and its stamps.

Okay Jolly Wolf is going into the Singapore Philatelic Museum to have a look but not one second after this picture was taken, Jolly Wolf fell down. You could see he is almost falling from the picture.

Once inside the Singapore Philatelic Museum, you will be encircled in a house of stamp.

There are literally thousands of stamps everywhere in the Singapore Philatelic Museum and then Jolly Wolf found something interesting..

Jolly Wolf found Mickey Mouse stamp! Oh we should mentioned, the Singapore Philatelic Museum is also a stamp shop.

Hence, the Singapore Philatelic Museum is also a great place for stamp collectors to buy unique stamps. Jolly Wolf, what are you looking for?

Jolly Wolf is looking for a sheep stamp! Hmm..

Admission is $5 for the Singapore Philatelic Museum, hanging around the stamp shop like what Jolly Wolf did is free.

Armenian Church of Saint Gregory the Illuminator

The Armenian Church, full name Armenian Church of Saint Gregory the Illuminator is the oldest church in Singapore located at Hill Street. Built in 1835 as the number masks on the building.

The Armenian Church welcomes all visitors! Good thing they did not say no pets allowed ^_^

Jolly Wolf ponders upon some interesting statues in the Armenian Church.

Jolly Wolf goes in to have a closer look.

Jolly Wolf loves the stoney road in the Armenian Church.

Jolly Wolf finds that the Armenian Church design is pretty familiar.

An old Armenian house in the compounds of the Armenian Church.

A grave in the backyard of the Armenian Church to remember the fallen Armenians.

A tree with purple flowers and 2 benches for you to chill.

Jolly Wolf will bring you inside to have a look shall we?

This is a sign from the preservation of monument board saying that the Armenian Church is built by G D Coleman, it is the oldest church in Singapore and it originally had a domed roof and a bell-turret in the ancient Armenian Church tradition. In 1853 both features were replaced with a pitched roof and spire for structural reasons.

On the inside, the Armenian Church is not big with a simplistic altar.

This photo must be taken recently judging by the age of Mr Lee Kuan Yew in this picture.

Did you know that Armenia was the first country to adopt Christianity as their religion?

That is why the Armenian Church is so significant. Jolly Wolf sits down and pray..

J Obsession 2012

NICI Beaver is at J-Obsession 2012 yesterday at The Cathay. J-Obsession is an event to promote local musicians with the passion for Japanese music.

J-Obsession gives local young aspiring musicians a stage to showcase their talents and their love for Japanese music.

There was also a cosplay event at J-Obsession yesterday and we spotted some cosplayers loitering around nearby The Cathay.

On the right the gorgeous Hizaki (cosplaying)! Lead guitarist from the J-Rock visual kei band - Versailles.

Then we see some familiar faces from our previous AFA11 - Anime Festival Asia 2011.

Also another familiar face from the AFA11 event. You can check out their pictures here

Viewer discretion alert! We found this weird looking guy in eeyore stitch's costume.

One of our local band - HYDRA performing on stage for the J-Obsession 2012 event.

Check out the facebook page for J-Obsession 2012 for more details. Today is the last day for this event 4:30pm - 8.00pm at The Cathay. Please go support our local musicians!

Chijmes Chijmes Chijmes

Today we brought Hugo Wolf to Chijmes (pronounced as chimes). Chijmes is a historical building in Singapore which previously served as a catholic convent called the Convent of Holy Infant Jesus.

Chijmes has since been restored to a commercial building for restaurants, bars and shops. Located at the central area near City Hall MRT, Chijmes is a great place for food and drinks with a unique entourage.

On the entrance of Chijmes, there is a beautiful Gothic style chapel which Hugo Wolf is right in front of.

A good view of the chapel in Chijmes without Hugo. Gothic design is absolutely gorgeous.

Inside the Chijmes building, you will instantly be greeted with lots of restaurants and bars.

Restaurants and bars in Chijmes mostly cater for business at night so its without a soul now.

We will head upstairs and have a look around Chijmes..What is Hugo Wolf doing at the staircase..

As we ascend upstairs, we see some old pictures hanging on the wall of how the Chijmes building looked like in the olden days.

Hugo Wolf at a nice long corridor at the 2nd level of Chijmes

Hugo Wolf found something interesting! The gents at the 2nd level of Chijmes is a complete see through! If you're wondering whether the ladies look like this too, the answer is.....Nope

As we descend the staircase in Chijmes..

Hugo Wolf came across another old picture of Chijmes, the entrance and the chapel looks exactly the same isn't it?

Hugo Wolf at Chijmes with the view of the chapel from the side..

Hugo Wolf at Chijmes and another view of the chapel from the back..

The chapel of Chijmes is on the left and the other building with a cross is the Cathedral Of The Good Shepherd. We will pay a visit there one day.

A better view of both the chapel in Chijmes and Cathedral Of The Good Shepherd without the big chubby Hugo Wolf blocking most of the scenery (^_^)

There's an escalator in Chijmes! An old building with modern infrastructure.

Look at the lobsters! Alright we will leave you with one last picture for Chijmes..

There is an urban legend recently reporting a wolfy figure sighted at Chijmes, but no one can confirm "its" existence or what exactly it is. Some say its a werewolf, some say its the superhero wolverine. NICI-Mania sets out to Chijmes to find out the truth...
